Support This ProjectWhy a Trade School?
In Uganda, there is little economy and a lack of industry that makes it very difficult for anyone to get a job, regardless of education. Over 30,000 students graduate each year from university, yet many are unable to work because there are no job opportunities.
Even doctors who have gone through school can end up waiting tables or simply jobless on the streets. Education through the highest levels is not a guarantor of employment—students must be equipped with a way to support themselves and their families.
Our Solution
We seek to establish a trade school and secondary school combination that equips students not only with a liberal arts formation but also a trade that has been fully integrated with that education. This includes training in construction, carpentry, tailoring, and beauty services.
This way, if they cannot continue in school at any point, they will be able to support themselves and give back to their community. We also hope to accommodate villagers who would be interested in taking classes.
